When I saw this Anne Geddes Yarn by Red Heart in the color “Spearmint” I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it! Such an on-trend color and a perfect color for baby too. This yarn is easy-care and the DK/category “3” weight is a good choice for warmer months. And nothing says “Summer” like a lightweight little bucket hat with a lacey brim. This hat is designed to fit babies ages 3-6 months, but of course babies come in all sizes!

How to Crochet a Baby Hat with FREE printable pattern!
You will need:
- 1 skein Anne Geddes Yarn by Red Heart in Spearmint, or the color of your choice
- Size “J” crochet hook
- Large blunt needle for weaving in the ends
Gauge: 4 hdc=1″Â Special Stitches:
- V-stitch: dc-ch1-dc in same stitch
- Cluster stitch: 3 dc in same stitch
To make the hat:
Create a Foundation Ring: Chain 3. Join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 2. 10 hdc in ring. Join with a sl st in top of ch-2. [You should have 11 hdc]
Round 2: Ch 2. One hdc in same space. …
…2 hdc in each hdc around. Join with a sl st in top of ch-2. [You have increased 11hdc for a total of 22 hdc]
Round 3: Ch 2. * 2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in next hdc.** Repeat from * to ** around. Make 1 hdc in the last hdc on the previous round. Join with a sl st in top of ch-2. [34hdc]
Round 4: Ch 2. Hdc in same stitch. *1 hdc in next 2 hdc stitches. 2 hdc in next hdc.** Repeat from * to ** around. Join with a sl stin top of ch-2. [44 hdc]
Round 5 (beginning of Lace pattern): Ch 3. Skip 2 hdc; V-stitch (dc-ch1-dc) in next hdc. *Skip 2 hdc; V-stitch** Repeat from * to ** around to the last two hdc. …
…Skip these last 2 hdc and dc in the base of your beginning ch-3. Ch1 and slip stitch in the top of your beginning ch-3. (15 v-stitches)
Round 6: Ch 3. Cluster stitch (3 dc in same stitch) in ch-1 space of the next V-stitch. Repeat cluster stitch in each ch-1 space around. …
…  Make 2 dc in the base of your beg ch-3 to form the final cluster stitch. Join with a sl st in top of your beginning ch-3. [15 cluster stitches]
Round 7: Ch 3. Form a v-stitch in the center dc of each cluster stitch. End with 1 dc and a ch-1 in the base of your beg ch-3 to form the final v-stitch. Join with a sl st in top of your beginning ch-3. [15 v-stitches]
Round 8: repeat Round 6.
Round 9: Repeat Round 7.
Round 10: Ch 2. *Hdc in the next dc. Hdc in the next ch-1 space. Hdc in the next dc.** Repeat from * to ** around to the last ch-1 space. Join with a sl st in top of your beginning ch-2. (48 hdc)
Round 11: Ch 2. Hdc in each hdc stitch around. Join with a sl st in top of your beginning ch-2.  (48 hdc)
Round 12: Ch 2. Make 2 hdc in each hdc stitch around.
Round 13: Ch 3. Skip 2 hdc; V-stitch (dc-ch1-dc) in next hdc. *Skip 2 hdc; V-stitch** Repeat from * to ** around. Slip stitch in the top of your beginning ch-3 to finish. (31 v-stitches)
Fasten off your yarn.
Weave in the ends.
You have finished your hat! It will look adorable on the baby who wears it!
