I am so excited to finally be able to show you that I’m giving ‘The Red Plate’ tradition as my friend gifts this year! They were so easy to make.
Basically how the tradition works, is that you use the ‘You are Special’ red plate at meal time when someone accomplishes something, gets a good grades, has a birthday, etc.
I made it out of a red charger and vinyl lettering, so you can’t eat, dishwash, or microwave this one. But it was easy on the budget and a wonderful tradition I’m excited to start with my family.
I made these cute red and white place mat purses to put them in. They were so easy and only $1.97 at Walmart. You can print out the directions for the place mat purses and the ‘The Red Plate‘ for free on Tip Junkie printables.
I feel like I’m giving more than a gift this year. I’m giving warm memories, and hopefully, a tradition that will last generations to come.
I hope you’ll pass on this special tradition as well. Merry Christmas!

So cute – where did you get the plate holder?
Hmm… That’s a good question. I bought it years ago I believe at Linens N Things. (Maybe Bed Bath & Beyond but I think it was Linens N Things.)

How do I get the lettering for $2.00? I clicked on the link and it took me to another project, albeit beautiful too, but not the vinyl lettering. Also, I got some plates on ebay. LOVE LOVE LOVE your ideas!
How can I get the vinyl lettering for the You Are Special red plate….the link doesn’t get me to the right place.
Thanks.
I have a plate just like this, I purchased mine through a home party…I use it for birthdays, accomplishments, any special day for a special occasion. My children love it.
