    1. Stand Up Paddle Boarding

    This is a newer sport, also called “stand up paddle surfing”, and it’s a fantastic way to get a workout on the water – and you don’t have to wait for the perfect wave!

    Boards for beginners are a bit longer and wider than regular surfboards, so it’s easier to balance on them. You’ll get a killer workout on your legs and core muscles, and even more so when you add in the paddling!

    Why on earth would you want to spend your time at the public pool, trying to swim laps around hoards of screaming children?

    Instead, head for the nearest lake, ocean or river and start swimming. You’ll burn just as many (if not more) calories, but there’s no chlorine smell and plenty of room – and no screaming kids!

    Tai Chi is a form of martial arts that originally developed in China as a form of self defense. However, it’s now used more as a type of moving meditation, quite similar to yoga.
