Tip Junkie

A Mother Shower

To acknowledge the transition into motherhood we began with a guestbook/photo album for guests to provide tips and wishes for mom. Instead of the typical Baby Shower games and activities, we ask attendees to fill out decorate onesies for baby, make or bring a bead with symbols to represent their wishes for the new mother to be made into a birth necklace, and carve protective runes into candles to be lit by attendees when mom goes into labor. Rather than (or in addition to) gifts, we provide cards with ideas for gifts of service they can offer to mom after the baby has arrived.
