Tip Junkie

Mod mobile

This bright and cheerful mobile was created using scrapbook paper, fishing line, a wreath form, and ribbon. It is for my new niece’s nursery, but also served as the centerpiece decoration at her baby shower!

I grabbed a bunch of scrapbook paper in colors that will coordinate with the nursery and used 3 different sized paper punches to create a Big Old Pile of shapes.

Then I used fishing line and a medium sized sewing needle to create long and short strips. I tied small knots in between each shape so they stayed spaced correctly and didn’t all fall to the bottom of the string.

I spray painted a green wire floral wreath form to use as the base of my mobile. As I tied each strip onto the orange base, I put a few drops of Krazy Glue at each of the contact points so those strips stayed put.

I wove a brown ribbon around the edge to finish it off, and I really like it. It is bright and modern, sure to keep the baby happy!

Instructions

Punch out lots of different shapes of your scrapbook paper. Cut out long and shorter pieces of fishing line, mine were about 1 ft and 2 ft. Thread your needle with the fishing line and begin to thread your shapes onto the strip. Tie a little knot between each shape so they stay spaced out on each strip.

When all of your strips are finished, I used about 20, start tying them onto your wreath form (I spray painted mine to match). After double knotting each strip, I added a dot of Krazy Glue (or you could use hot glue) to keep each strip from sliding around the form.

Weave the ribbon around the wreath form to cover the knots where each strip was tied. I hot glued under each of those spots as well.

# 4

I cut 5 equal pieces of fishing line and tied them around the center of the wreath form and tied them together in a loop for hanging.
