Nester from Nesting Place {Master Class}

Promoting creative women is the #1 goal of Tip Junkie. Today, Nester from Nesting Place  is sharing her 5 Tips for Successful Blogging . She is sharing how she has found success and fulfillment through blogging.

In an effort to empower you, our readers and fellow creative souls, we would like to welcome you to the Blogosphere’s version of the Master Class. Just like Oprah’s Master Class on OWN, but for Bloggers.

What is Oprah’s Master Class on OWN?

It’s a biography series that shares hard-won insight from extraordinary achievers whose paths have inspired Oprah—and countless others.  There are always 3-5 lessons that viewers can take away from their shared experiences and it is truly inspiring and empowering.  We are hoping to do the same here on Tip Junkie by featuring successful bloggers.

We will be regularly featuring inspiring bloggers who have found success and fulfillment through their online endeavors. Join us and find yourself empowered through their words of wisdom.

Nester from Nesting Place

Introduce yourself to Tip Junkies.

I started a blog 3 years ago for fun, to talk about little projects in our rental home, it’s turned into a full time business/dream job.  I’ve figured out that I don’t hate to write and what I thought would be a place to share tutorials has evolved into a place for me to encourage women in how we think about home and the myth of perfection.  My motto: It doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.

What do you think every new blogger/Mom-preneur should know?

Have a purpose for your site/business/hobby and constantly re-evaluate.  Over time my purpose has changed from a fun outlet/hobby to a serious business with income.  Don’t be afraid to change how you think about your blog to suit the current season of life for you and your family.  Maybe that means taking a month off, maybe that means incorporating ads.  Maybe that means taking a big risk.  Consider how much time you spend on your blog, what you enjoy, what parts you dread

My goal online is to do less but be more.  For me, that means less social media, more writing what I love to write about.  So far, the results have been great.

What have you learned in the last 12 months that’s a “game changer” for your blog/business?

I no longer do stuff I don’t like to do. When I started out, I said yes to every opportunity.  And I think that served me well.  I quickly learned what I was good at, what I hated, what seemed like a waste, what worked for me. Now, I can say “no” without second guessing myself and say “yes” without guilt.

What’s the one thing you make sure you do everyday for your blog or business?

Risk. Create. Change. Do something.  Come up with a new idea. Take notes.  Look for inspiration.  Think.

The majority of Nesting Place isn’t hot gluing or writing, it’s taking a risk, creating something new {maybe just a shortcut}, changing how I think, doing something {half the time it ends up not working but that means half the time it does work!} being aware.

Nesting Place is just an extension of how I’ve always been~ a person who loves to play in their home.  My home is my canvas.  I think we all are artists and where our blog or business or hobby intersects with our art is the sweet spot.
