A savvy street vendor used to roast nuts right outside the building I worked in so every time someone opened the door, that toasty, delicious smell would waft enticingly inside. At lunchtime, there I’d be – waiting in line to buy freshly roasted nuts, served in a paper cone that warmed my hands on cold days.
