Ideas for Meet the Teacher {5 Homemade Gifts}

Meet the teacher night is such an exciting event.  It’s something that my boys look forward to the minute we start school clothes shopping.  Since I’m raising all boys {and therefore future husbands} I use meet the teacher night as a way to teach them how to properly greet a lady for the first time. {{evil  laugh}}

Card and Gift for Meet the Teacher Night

How do I do that?  Well, our tradition is that we bring flowers, an All About Me Card, and a meet the teacher gift.

My oldest child has high functioning autism. So to most people he looks like every other 11 year old boy. However, my son has autistic behaviors that can be difficult to understand and know how to handle. Since he is mainstreamed, I make his church and school teachers an All About Me Card every year letting them know key information that will help him learn and thrive.  It’s now become a tradition that I do for my other boys as well.  It gives great insight for teachers!

Ideas for Meet the Teacher Gifts

1.  An inexpensive teacher appreciation gift from A Place Called Joy.  Wrap an Altoids tin with decorative paper and a tag that reads, “You were MINT to teach.”

2.  How to make an adorable post-it note holder made out of a clear plastic picture frame from The Karges. This was so cheap because she had almost everything on hand!

3.  Monogrammed meet the teacher candy gram vase from The Gift Closet. Glass vases from the dollar store and letters from Michael’s. On the jar with the pencils the tag said: “Thank you for helping our children write the future”. On the one with the candy ( Hershey’s Hugs & Kisses) and the tag said,” Thanks for all you do, Hugs & Kisses.”

4.  “To the uneducated an A is just three sticks” framed quote from Winnie the Pooh by What Are We Doing Today Mom? It’s an easy and cool meet the teacher gift idea.

    We always make first day survival bags for the teachers. They include stickers, candy, post its, neat pens, soda, etc to get them through that first day.

    What a great idea! We don’t have meet and greet the new teachers in NYC. Love the little gift ideas.

    Your ideas would be such a treat! And, as a teacher, very appreciated. The “All about Me” card would be the best of the bunch! Thanks so much for sharing.

    I’m a teacher too and I agree with Marilyn. Any of these would be such a treat! Thanks to all parents who make a special effort to help make the meet and greet (ours is Open House) night a great way to start the year.

    I had got a dream to begin my own organization, however I didn’t earn enough amount of money to do this. Thank goodness my close mate told to take the loan. Thus I used the financial loan and realized my desire.

    I propose not to hold off until you get enough cash to buy all you need! You can just get the loan or just financial loan and feel yourself comfortable
