This fun Holiday Craft tutorial for a Christmas Countdown train is simple, elegant and kid friendly. Read on for the how-to! I can’t believe it’s already December! I’m SO excited for Christmas this year! I just love everything about the holiday season.
This year I plan on making lots of fun crafts with my kids. I remember making Christmas countdown chains as a little girl and I loved them! It was so fun tearing off the chains and counting down till Christmas. I wanted to create something elegant, yet simple AND kid friendly. This is what I came up with…a little bit of a twist on the traditional *red and green* countdown chains.
Easy Christmas Countdown Chain
Supplies Needed:
- Brown Paper Bags
- Ink and Stamps
- Brads
- Ribbon
The first thing I did was cut the bottom of the bags off. Then me and my kids stamped the bags with some red holiday flowers. They LOVED this part!
After the ink was dry we cut the bags into 8 inch strips with decorative scissors.
Then we attached the links together with brads. You could also staple them together.
Once we had completed the chain we added a little ribbon and attached it to my “mantel.”
You can see how I made the Advent calendar here and the stockings here.
My son LOVED this project. It was so simple and inexpensive… two things I love!
Hope everyone has a Happy Holiday! Let the countdown begin…

Love that idea, going to MIchale’s to day to buy what I need! One question where can I find those cute glass candy jars on the right with the ornaments? I have looked everywhere and can’t find them!
Thank you! I found the large one at Hobby Lobby and the smaller one at Home Goods. But I have seen them at Target, Michaels and Jo-Ann’s as well. Good luck!
Love the countdown! Forgot about these… Gonna make one today!
I would name your blog the dreamland! While Santa knocks at our door just once per year, you blog is open the whole year – wow!
