Spring Paper Flower Tutorial

EHprint Print Free File: Paper Flower Pattern Sheet pdf

I came up with this fun idea using a simple heart shape.  It requires a bit of folding but the result is so adorable and something you can incorporate into lots of paper crafting projects.  I created a spring topiary (above) by simply using colored straight pins and pinning the flowers with button centers to a foam ball.  A perfect centerpiece for your Spring or Easter tablescape!  You can find a full spread of this topiary project with “how to” in this month’s issue of Scrapbooks etc. magazine.    I’ve also added these pretty flowers to my scrapbooking pages as well!   Just the addition of a gem to the centers and these blooms sparkle big time!

Directions:

1. Download and save the file to your computer.   Print the heart patterns on the BACK side of the paper you wish to make your flowers from.  You can also use a heart paper punch if you have the X-Large That’s Amore Squeeze Punch by Fiskars and a 2″ circle punch.  Besides scrapbooking paper or cardstock, you’ll need glue/adhesive, a stapler and embellishments for the flower centers.

2. Cut out/punch 6 hearts PER flower you wish to create.  Cut one circle pattern (base) for each flower also.

3. Fold each heart shape in half RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER; then fold each half  in HALF AGAIN back towards the original fold (see above image).

4. Glue the tip of two of the hearts CENTER of the base circle on opposite sides.  Fill in the space on each of the sides with two more folded hearts (see below).

5.  Once all of the hearts are in place staple the center a couple of times for a secure hold.

TIP: It may take a bit of shaping and coaxing to get your flower just right; add adhesive where needed if the shapes aren’t cooperating.

Hope you enjoy making these fun flowers!  You can make other sizes if you have a smaller heart punch/shape also!  Create fun center accents for a variety of looks!   Have fun!
