My kids love to come up with costume ideas that can not be found in the costume store. Two years ago, my son asked to be a flying chameleon. SInce flying chameleons do not exist, I had to make his costume. I found instructions on how to make a dragon, and changed it into the costume in the picture. He was thrilled when he won grand prize in our neighborhood costume contest. To make this costume I used felt, an XL green T-shirt, and dark green sweatshirt. I added scales from felt onto the T-shirt with hot glue. It was his ideas to make it several colors. Underneath the T-shirt he wore a dark green hoodie, which had hand sewn eyes on the hood. The chameleon tale was made out of felt sewn into a tube and stuffed with plastic bags to give it is its shape. I attached the wings, also made out of felt to the back of the T-shirt. This was one of his very favorite costumes and a added bonus was that it was comfortable and warm.
