History of Easter Day ~ Behind the Bunny
Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day following his death by crucifixion, the central belief of the Christianity. The holiday comes after Lent, a forty-day period of fasting and self-sacrifice following the decadence of Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday.
