Corpse Bride and her Grave Digger

By far the most fun I have had creating a Halloween costume. We received lots of compliments at a local Halloween festival!

Whan you can’t see is that we created a graveyard in our front yard complete with a freshly dug grave. We stood beside it with his lantern and gave out candy. So much fun!

Happy Haunting!

Instructions

# 1

For the Corpse Bride we started with an older style wedding gown (you can purchase these at a local resale shop, Craig's List, or use that old one hanging in your closet like I did!) and a veil. I used scissors to cut the hem off. Make sure it is ragged so it looks more realistic. I also cut several holes into the bodice and skirt to make it look worn and rotten. I then used spray paint in camo colors (green, brown, and black) and sprayed it onto the dress. Do this with it lying in a crumple on the ground, then reposition it every now and then to layer the look of the "mold and dirt". I then dragged it through the dirt and mud after a fall rain shower. I did the same with the veil so it looks worn and rotten. For the Grave Digger I bought cheap work coveralls and painted them with the same brown/green/black paint but mostly on the legs and knees to look like it was hard work digging me up! An old black felt cowboy hat worked well for the hat. I found a cheap decorative lantern and painted the inside glass to look dirty and used a battery operated tea light to go inside (no fire hazard). Then he toted around an old shovel, and sometimes dragged it behind him. The sound really drew attention! And there you have it! The easiest costume I have put together, and also the one I have received the most compliments on. Have a happy and safe Halloween
