Onesie Baby Shower Cookies

Learn step-by-step how to make adorable onesie baby shower cookies that your guests will love!

In addition to the fact that you will be saying “aaaawwwwww…” out loud every five minutes while you are making them, the great thing about onesie baby shower cookies is that you have endless options for decorating. You can use any pattern and any color combination you can come up with.

Onesie Baby Shower Cookies
Just a Tip!
Difficulty: For Beginners
Budget: Cheap
Estimated Time: 1-2 hours

You Will Need...

  • Cookies made from your favorite sugar cookie recipe and cut using a onesie cookie cutter
  • Royal icing in three to five colors - I used blue, green, orange and brown. (I used 12-count consistency icing for all the steps in this tutorial.)
  • Small confetti sprinkles
  • Icing bags or bottles, couplers, and tips (I used a #2 tip for all the steps in this tutorial.)
  • Pair of tweezers (clean and use for baking only)

Instructions

# 1
Onesie Baby Shower Cookies Argyle

1. Start by marking the location of the tops, sides, and bottoms of the diamonds in the argyle pattern. Do this by making tiny dots with your orange royal icing. Immediately move on to Step #2. 2. Connect the dots with your orange royal icing so that you have three diamonds next to each other and touching. Immediately move on to Step #3. 3. Flood the diamond shapes with orange royal icing. While the orange icing is still wet, draw an “X” in each diamond with blue royal icing. Using this wet-on-wet technique ensures that the blue icing is flush with the orange, creating a smooth surface. 4. Complete Steps #1 – 3 for all cookies. Set the onesie cookies aside to let the icing dry for at least 20 minutes. 5. Outline and immediately flood the onesie shape with your green royal icing. While the green icing is wet, use a pair of tweezers (clean and used for baking only) to place three orange confetti sprinkles on the bottom of the onesie as buttons. If you are using royal icing transfers on your onesie cookies, place them onto the wet green royal icing. Complete Step #4 for all cookies. Set the onesie cookies aside to let the icing dry for at least 20 minutes. 5. Finish off the onesie cookies by drawing an outline with your orange royal icing. Complete this step for all cookies and set them aside to completely dry before stacking or packaging, preferably overnight.
