Step #1 - Choose A Shampoo And Conditioner That Add Volume

Shampoos and conditioners that are labeled “volumizing” contain lightweight polymers, which adhere to your hair and make each strand more plump. Use both a shampoo and a conditioner for maximum effect.

Step #2 - Use A Volumizing Styler

Right after washing your hair, but before drying it, spray some volumizing styler onto the roots of your hair, then comb it through your hair all the way to the tips. Volume begins at the roots of the hair.

Step #3 - Tips For Drying Your Hair

Generally, your hair will be much healthier overall if you allow it to dry naturally. However, if you're pressed for time and have to blow-dry your hair, you can avoid unnecessary heat damage to your hair by using the following techniques.

Select a section of your hair (1-2 inches wide), lift it up at the roots, and wrap it around a big round brush. Dry that section with the nozzle of the blow-dryer pointed upward. Repeat with each section of hair until all your hair is dry.

Step #4 - Use Rollers To Add Lift

Once your hair is dry, you can lock in the lift you've given it by using rollers.

Separate the hair around the crown of your head into 1- to 2-inch-wide sections, and wrap them around self-adhering Velcro or snap-together rollers. When you're done with that, use your blow dryer to heat the rolled hair for 1 minute, then allow it to cool. This will help those sections of hair to hold their shape.

Once the hair is cool, gently remove the rollers, unroll your hair, and use your fingers to shake it out.

Step #5 - Apply Hairspray

To hold your hair in place, add a fine layer of hairspray at the end of the styling process.

Also, to help your hair keep its bounce and prevent too much hairspray from building up on your hair, don't spray it directly onto your hair - instead, spray it into the air and step forward into the cloud of hairspray.
