Personal Assistant – August

by Laurie on August 3, 2009

Since it’s the beginning of the month, Tip Junkie is here as Your Personal Assistant. Take a day and really plan and organize your schedule. Here are some of the things to do:

1. Check birthdays for the month, buy cards & presents, get them ready to mail or deliver. If you have a child’s birthday this month, plan it and get out the invites.

2. It’s the dog days of summer, plan a few new activities to do with the kiddos to end summer on a fun note.

3. Plan a Girls Only Weekend with your besties to celebrate surviving the summer. {{Be sure to invite me!}}

4. Clear schedule for book club, girls night out, BUNCO, and other rotating activities. Make sure you have child care, your food assignment, etc. Here’s how to start a dinner club.

5. If you are doing a food storage, time to check the schedule and buy next on the list. Don’t forget to put some cash in there as well.

6. Change AC house filter.

7. Write one grandparent a letter, artwork, or card.

8. Plan Mommy/Son or Daddy/Daughter dates.

9. Plan a date night with your man, arrange the babysitter in advance.

10. It’s time to start planning for Christmas. If your family draws names for Christmas, August is a good time to do it.  This way you know who to buy for.

If your purchasing your gifts, spread out your Christmas expenses buy purchasing a couple gifts each month from the Mom-preneur Shops. Every penny you spend goes to support another woman and her family. {{fabulous!}}

11.  Sign up for fall sports.  (Don’t delay, many deadlines are the 1st or 2nd week in August.)

12.  The kids are going back to school.  This year plan something really special and start a new tradition:

13.  Make fun plans for Labor Day with friends and family.

Upcoming Tip Junkie Events:

1.  Start getting your Photoshop Contest entries ready.  The festivities will start in a couple weeks. {{giddy}}  If you’d like to be a sponsor by donating a prize submit your product under “other“.

2.  Virtual Tour of Homes.  Post pictures and a little bit about your favorite rooms in your house on your blog and we’ll show them off on Tip Junkie.

Events coming up:

1. Start brainstorming and get an idea of what your kiddos want to be for Halloween. Also pick out a couple new Halloween home decor items you want to make.

2. Finalize your Thanksgiving plans.

3. Start making plans for Christmas. Not only gifts but where you’re going to stay, who’s family to visit, travel arrangements, etc.

If you want to remind yourself to head on over to Tip Junkie at the beginning of every month for this segment, here’s a button you can put on the sidebar of your blog. ;)

What else do you do in August to get your home organized?

I really enjoy the executive homemaker posts each month. It is great to have a list of everything that needs to be done and doing it, instead of remembering at the end of the month and having nothing get done. Thanks so much for being an executive homemaker and keeping the rest of us on top of things.
